Objectives

  • Who was Tutankhamun? Possibly the most well-known of all of Egypt’s pharaohs, elements of his death and burial remain a mystery.

Meet our resident archaeologist, as we take you through the story of his life and death.

Finish with a journey through the tunnels into a recreation of his tomb. Here you will view the mummy!

Learning objectives: Archaeology, specialist technology, New Kingdom history

  • Hatshepsut was perhaps the most unusual pharaoh of the New Kingdom: A full-blood royal, she ruled as regent over her stepson Thutmose III, after the death of her husband, the pharaoh Thutmose II. Seven years into her regency she declared herself King, and ruled over Egypt until Thutmose III came of age, after which they ruled together, both as Pharaoh.

We re-enact this unusual story and invite the students to join in the court of Hatshepsut.

Learning objectives: (Notions of divinity, rule and power, social hierarchies, customs and superstitions, roleplay, re-enactment)

  • Meet Nephthys, our scribe, the daughter of a scribe to kings. In Ancient Egypt, women were not allowed this role – Nephthys learned her skills from her father, and now she shares them with you!

Learn all about hieroglyphs, what they meant, what they were used for, who saw them, and how to read them. Create your own and learn how to write your name in Ancient Egyptian!

Learning objectives: Social history, art history, arts and crafts, imagination skills.
